Chrome Typography

Chrome type on old vehicles is always something that I have found fascinating. It often seems that these small shiny logos are overlooked or forgotten about, yet somehow a vintage car would look incomplete without them.

A recent visit to the British Motor Museum provided me with an array of beautiful examples affixed to British vehicles of all ages, but perhaps most notably on cars from the 1970’s and 80’s. It is interesting to see how the type design has been matched to the character of the car (or in some cases seemingly not) as well as the location for these emblems to be added.
